Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius—Molt

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse 5º Sagittarius May 26 5:14 am MT

Dear Lunar Eclipse, What is it I need to release in my life? To let pop, break open, pour out, explode, dissolve?

I invite you to sit with this question for yourself. If you have your natal chart, look at which house Sagittarius sits in; this is the particular area of life this eclipse is asking you (or forcing you) to change, to shake up, to let things go of within.

For me, this full moon lunar eclipse is happening in my sixth house of service, of daily work, of health.

For me, this answer includes: overworking and undersleeping. Working myself to the bone. Trying, always striving, to be the best, to win, succeed. This question came from astrologer Chani Nicholas: What would it be like, feel like, if you didn’t always have to be the best, the smartest one in the room, the most successful? I took a full-body breath after hearing that line.

What else am I offering to this eclipse? Taking on too much because I’m afraid to say no. Afraid I won’t have enough if I don’t do everything. Scarcity mindset. Fighting for my spot, my take.

I want to move into a space of creating and doing from love, from joy, from curiosity—from the sense of, “Can I do this?” “What if I try this?” Of striving and working hard because it feels good—not to prove the worth of my existence.

I want to uncouple the idea of my work and my worth.

My worth is already inherent, it is present, it is non-negotiable. My work is something I do from my sense and state of worth—not to justify or earn it.

Also a shift from: How can I please these people/students/clients/audience and make them like me (hey, Libra stellium), to how can I best serve? How can I offer my best and brightest, to the people who will gain something from it?

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Release

Full moons are times of exfoliation, of sloughing off dead layers of self—and eclipses are when we shed our skin entire. Snake-like, we leave husks of our former selves, our past lives, our previous dreams in our wake.

We change directions, change paths, change our minds—or they are changed for us.

We form new skin—new layers grow over our raw vulnerability—but at first, we are naked, exposed, tender and new.

Go gentle through this eclipse, dear ones. Take care of the fresh and untried iterations you are evolving into.

Help the eclipse energy along by releasing what you know is past its time—relationships, jobs, beliefs or ways of being, goals and dreams, clutter, clothing, objects that no longer tell the story of who you are. Clean out your closets. Consolidate your to-do lists. Sweep out the chambers of your heart. Wipe down the lenses of your visions.

Rest, sleep, take a purifying salt bath. Drink lots of water. Imbibe cleansing herbs. Recognize this as a time of turning over. Support and ease the process where you can. Trust Source to do the rest.

And remember, the snake does not consider how or when to molt. She just does. Allow some processes to happen naturally. Humble yourself to the changing of events, the turning of the page.

You are not always in charge. Sink into the freedom of that, the support—the felt sense of heldness. Fall back. Float. Surrender. Release. Shed.

Full Moon in Sagittarius Writing Prompt + Ritual

I don’t manifest during an eclipse—the general wisdom is the energy is too volatile. So instead of a ritual, do any of the above cleansing or clarifying activities and/or take a soothing, purifying bath.

Lunar Eclipse Creative Writing Prompt

Bathe in this poem by Joy Harjo. Then choose one line and write in response to it.

For Calling the Spirit Back from Wandering the Earth in its Human Feet

by Joy Harjo

Put down that bag of potato chips, that white bread, that bottle of pop.

Turn off that cellphone, computer, and remote control.

Open the door, then close it behind you.

Take a breath offered by friendly winds. They travel the earth gathering essences of plants to clean.

Give it back with gratitude.

If you sing it will give your spirit lift to fly to the stars’ ears and back.

Acknowledge this earth who has cared for you since you were a dream planting itself precisely within your parents’ desire.

Let your moccasin feet take you to the encampment of the guardians who have known you before time, who will be there after time. They sit before the fire that has been there without time.

Let the earth stabilize your postcolonial insecure jitters.

Be respectful of the small insects, birds and animal people who accompany you.
Ask their forgiveness for the harm we humans have brought down upon them.

Don’t worry.
The heart knows the way though there may be high-rises, interstates, checkpoints, armed soldiers, massacres, wars, and those who will despise you because they despise themselves.

The journey might take you a few hours, a day, a year, a few years, a hundred, a thousand or even more.

Watch your mind. Without training it might run away and leave your heart for the immense human feast set by the thieves of time.

Do not hold regrets.

When you find your way to the circle, to the fire kept burning by the keepers of your soul, you will be welcomed.

You must clean yourself with cedar, sage, or other healing plant.

Cut the ties you have to failure and shame.

Let go the pain you are holding in your mind, your shoulders, your heart, all the way to your feet. Let go the pain of your ancestors to make way for those who are heading in our direction.

Ask for forgiveness.

Call upon the help of those who love you. These helpers take many forms: animal, element, bird, angel, saint, stone, or ancestor.

Call your spirit back. It may be caught in corners and creases of shame, judgment, and human abuse.

You must call in a way that your spirit will want to return.

Speak to it as you would to a beloved child.

Welcome your spirit back from its wandering. It may return in pieces, in tatters. Gather them together. They will be happy to be found after being lost for so long.

Your spirit will need to sleep awhile after it is bathed and given clean clothes.

Now you can have a party. Invite everyone you know who loves and supports you. Keep room for those who have no place else to go.

Make a giveaway, and remember, keep the speeches short.

Then, you must do this: help the next person find their way through the dark.
